I wanted to provide you with an update regarding dangerous driving and speeding, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. Community Update – ANPR Operation in South Croydon Ward We would like to reassure residents and road users that a targeted Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) operation was recently conducted on Brighton Road, South Croydon. The operation was carried out with the support of local response teams and the Met Transport Policing Unit, alongside specialist officers. Additional resources, including mobile patrols and fly‑over support, were deployed when necessary to ensure public safety and effective enforcement. As a result of this operation:
Over 80 vehicles were stopped and drivers spoken to, with advice and guidance provided where appropriate 7 vehicles were seized and removed from the road Driving licences were suspended in cases where offences met the required threshold
This proactive work forms part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety, tackle vehicle-related crime, and address anti-social driving within the community. We would like to thank the public for their cooperation and patience during the operation. Further enforcement activity will continue as and when required to help keep our roads safe for everyone. If you have any concerns about road safety or vehicle-related issues in your area, please report them through the appropriate channels.
If someone is driving a motor vehicle, they should always be doing so in a safe and considerate manner. Even momentary lapses in judgement can have life changing or devastating consequences for those in the vehicle or innocent bystanders. Activities such as street racing, cruising or performing tricks can count as anti-social behaviour.
